Getting to know the European cuisine

Grade b

On Wednesday, January 27 we had a special day which was called : “Getting to know the European cuisine”. In our class we have schoolmates whose parents come from many different countries  (France, Finland, Germany, Serbia, Albania). So, we had the idea to get to know European countries through their local cuisine. Each child brought to class a local food and we had the chance to taste special goodies, like: French croissants and apple tart, Finnish and Albanian cakes, German strudel, Serbian biscuits and, of course, greek specialties like beans soup, greek salad and tzatziki, spinach pie and Cretan cheese and desserts.

We had the opportunity to talk about how the climate affects each country’s culinary habits, as well as the benefits of the mediterranean diet in general. We also realized that people from all over Europe have their one unique and special characteristics, which are meant to unite people.

It was an extremely interesting experience, full of flavors and aromas and, hopefully, we will do it again soon!
